Joint 2016 MBI-NIMBioS CAMBAM Summer Graduate Workshop: Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to run a two-week workshop focusing on mathematical epidemiology. The workshop will provide high-level training that is unattainable at most institutions in deterministic, stochastic and (perhaps) agent-based models that will serve as the needed background for young researchers to produce the ultimately new mathematics needed to study ecological models of disease of interest to DoD. Participants of the workshop will include US, Canadian, and international graduate students, as well as some MBI postdocs (up to 50) in the mathematical and biological sciences. The program will involve eight researchers, each in charge of one day s program, who will lecture in the mornings and oversee computer and project activity in the afternoons.
