71st International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy

Abstract

To conduct the 71th International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy. This is one of the longest running and most successful conferences in the world which has high relevance for electronics based sensing and a long history of being supported by the U.S. Army Research Office. The meeting will be held on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, June 20-24, 2016. A major strength of the Conference lies in two key aspects, its extensive graduate student participation and its international participation. The conference places an emphasis on (i) stressing the fundamental aspects of the field, (ii) making a real effort to capture the most important new developments in the mini-symposia and to feature a small number of well-respected and informative plenary lecturers, and (iii) making efforts to make the conference conducive to good scientific exchange. Another key aspect of the Symposium, in terms of drawing a large and diverse audience, is the selection of the plenary speakers. Over the past six years of ARO support, 35 distinguished plenary speakers have represented a great diversity of both scientific topics and institutions.
