Distributed High Performance Algorithms for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (10.1.2)

Abstract

The objective of this proposed research is to investigate new algorithms for multi-hop MANETs (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks). The goal is to develop distributed low complexity combined physical layer, medium access control, and network algorithms that manage interference, provide QoS guarantees and are resilient to channel fading and multi-hop traffic. The approach is to combine queue-length based CSMA (carrier sense multiple access) with power control. The research will utilize conflict graph to determine optimal Q-CSMA activation rules. Then the conflict graph assumption will be loosened to consider SINR based models and the effect when interference cannot be treated as noise. The computational complexity for obtaining channel probing and multihop traffic is also considered in the design of distributed algorithms.
