Integrated Cognitive Mobile and Social Networking
Abstract
The objective of the proposed research is to research the interactions between the communications network and social network within the context of tactical network environment. With this understanding, adaptive protocols will be investigated to optimize the network operation within a coalition environment Physical coupling depends on the physical distances among mobile devices, and social coupling depends on social distances of the users. The research is motivated by the question of whether "social tie structureÓ among mobile users can impact the communications and interactions among their devices, and if yes, how the social structure can be leveraged. The three-fold approach will be 1) Develop a theoretical foundation for modeling and quantifying the power of friendly and adversarial nodes acting in concert, 2) Study distributed algorithms for cognitive mobile and social networking, 3) Investigate a software-defined collaborative platform for device-to-device cooperation. A social group utility maximization (SGUM) game framework that can span games from zero-sum game (ZSG) to standard non-cooperative game (NCG) to network utility maximization (NUM).
