The Network Science of Squads

Abstract

The Workshop The Network Science of Squad took place at the Denton Marriot Hotel from December 3 to December 5, 2016. It addressed two main issues, one of theoretical and academic interest, and the other of central interest for the national security, as eloquently stressed by Arati Prabakhar, DARPA director, "I think it s actually very hard to imagine an area that s more important to national security than understanding societal behaviorÓ. The academic issue of unification of behavioral science was discussed in the first two days of the Workshop. The third day focused on the issue of national security and on how to use the progress in the Science of Complexity to win the war against terrorism. At the end of the workshop the decision was made of organizing a special issue of the journal Chaos, Solitons and Fractals with the title Evolutionary Game Theory of Small Groups and their Larger Societies. This issue has been published and updated September 21, 2018. It consists of 14 papers, published as open access publications with the support of this grant.
