Inverse Bathemetry Problems

Abstract

Considering complex wave propagation models, this proposal will investigate model calibration, reduced order models, and uncertainty quantification. In particular, the proposal will focus on the inverse bathymetry problem, emphasizing applications to the littoral flow of the near-shore environment. Beginning with the shallow water equation, this proposal will address and utilize the following techniques: (a) the Discrete Empirical Interpolation method will be employed for model reduction; (b) to assimilate the data, the Ensemble Kalman Filter will be applied; (c) and to validation the model, the Delayed Rejection Adaptive Metropolis method will be applied.
