HELIOS: Accelerated Recovery of Evolving Spatial-Temporal Dynamics

Abstract

First, in terms of administrative matters, we have hired five Computer Science Ph.D. students (starting from Oct 2016) to contribute to the research objectives and initial system prototype development. To support our research activities in processing, analyzing, and manipulating large-scale social data, we have setup hardware and software environment. Specifically, we have setup local servers for experiments, Dropbox for document and data sharing, Github for code sharing, Google Doc for progress reports, Gmail list for group email management. Second, PI Caverlee and co-PI Hu attended the NGS2 kick-off meeting at the Executive Conference Center (ECC) located at 4075 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 350 in Arlington, VA on October 26-27, 2016. We participated in the kickoff activities, met with fellow NGS2 awardees, and met with my Program Manager Dr. Adam Russell. Third, in terms of research activities, we have begun initial design and deployment of the prototype data analytics infrastructure and software package development.
