A general theory of social structure integrating demography and decisions on social networks

Abstract

The major goals of the overall project, as outlined in the application are: 1. Building generative models of animal and human social networks based on simple and realistic demographic and social processes, and comparing these models with existing (published) data. 2. Modeling the dynamics of social behaviors, flexibility, and the distribution of resources/payoffs on networks that are dynamically changing according to these generative models. 3. Modeling the formation of multi-level social structure (e.g., groups and communities) in dynamic networks, and how this structure responds to perturbations.
