Conference Support for ACS Symposium: Recombinant Type Materials

Abstract

A two-day symposium titled ÒRecombinant Type MaterialsÓ organized by Jin K. Montclare and Scott Banta aims to bring together the researchers from the biosynthetic community to share their latest discoveries on protein-engineered materials. The symposium is sponsored by the Polymeric Material Science and Engineering (PMSE) and Biotechnology (BIOT) Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS). The symposium will emphasize the following: (1) synthetic biology approaches to prepare macromolecules such as polypeptides; (2) recombinant polypeptides conjugated to synthetic materials and block copolymers, (3) computational approaches to design recombinant materials; and (4) polymer physics and characterization of biomaterials. This proposal is being directed to the Biochemistry program.
