XXVI International Materials Research Congress (IMRC 2017) 20 August 2017 - 25 August 2017
Abstract
The XXVI International Materials Research Congress (IMRC) was organized by the Sociedad Mexicana de Materiales, working in partnership with the Materials Research Society. This series of meetings organized annually offers an exciting multidisciplinary stage to present new directions in materials research and technology, as well as valuable opportunities to exchange ideas with some of the foremost experts in the field. The IMRC has become a leading conference with international recognition in the field of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), covering a wide range of symposium topics of interest to the materials research community at large, offering simultaneously different activities such as tutorials, plenary lectures and graduate student fairs, among others. The MSE community participating in the IMRC has been growing steadily, with over 1800 attendees in 2017. The XXVI IMRC hosted 48 symposia grouped in 8 topical clusters, with more than 2,800 oral and poster presentations; 6 plenary lectures by well-recognized leaders on their areas; a workshop; 12 tutorials mainly for students and young researchers; 3 courses on complementary tools in MSE; an exhibition of academic graduate programs in MSE and 49 exhibits from companies and institutions displaying analytical instruments, services and academic information in the field of MSE. The XXVI IMRC took place from August 19 to 24, 2017 in Cancun, MŽxico, promoting the interaction of different sectors of the community with an interest in MSE, including scientists, engineers, students, representatives of industry, the public sector and other professional societies from Mexico and other countries. This has allowed the beginning of new collaborations, interaction between students and researchers, talks focused on state-of-the art science, a Best Student-Poster Award Contest, academic-industry networking, scientific exchange and the advancement in the field of materials, in general. The organization of a Workshop on Advanced Defense Materials for IMRC 2018 was discussed with RDECOM. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM Plenary Lecturers - Hans Joachim Freund - Stephen J.
