Illumination and Recording Accessories for High-speed Photography to Study Dynamic Fracture of Brittle Solids
Abstract
The acquisition of the proposed equipment will significantly enhance the PIÕs current capability of visualizing and measuring the stress field in the vicinity of a fast moving crack tip. This capability will improve the quality and the accuracy of the data collected in the currently ongoing ARO project (Grant No. W911NF-16-1-0093) investigating dynamic cracks approaching and passing interfaces.
