U.S. Workshop on the Physics and Chemistry of II-VI Materials (a.k.a. II-VI Workshop) - ARO Research Area iii: Materials Science - Physical Properties of Materials

Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to organize a workshop to bring together the industrial, government, and academic communities that work with II-VI materials, as well as other II-VI semiconductors and alloys. This workshop will be held in Chicago, Illinois during October 30-November 2, 2017, and aims at advancing the understanding of the basic physics and chemistry of II-VI materials with approximately 70 oral presentations from leading scientists in this area. Several materials such as HgCdTe, ZnSe, ZnO, CdTe, and CdZnTe will be covered at this workshop. In addition, device technologies covering the infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray, and gamma-ray regions of the spectrum will be discussed. Issues/opportunities in various areas such as materials growth, characterization, modeling surfaces/interfaces, defects/doping are expected to be included.
