Assessing Rapid Decision-Making Expertise with the uHIT Platform

Abstract

deCervo is the leading company in neurotechnology used to measure rapid decision-making expertise. Its technologies are based on results vetted by leading neuroscience journals. deCervoÕs activity in the professional sports world uniquely positions it to facilitate and perform expertise research because of the uniqueness of its database. deCervoÕs primary technology is the uHIT Platform. With the uHIT Platform, deCervo has collected neural and/or behavioral profiles Ð uHIT Profiles Ð of hundreds of professional and collegiate baseball players as they play the uHIT Games. deCervo could contribute to the neurobiology of expertise research program at ARO in the following ways: 1. Develop sophisticated models of uHIT Profile metrics to on-field metrics. 2. Develop enhanced neuroimaging decoding techniques for rapid decision-making paradigms, such as those used in the uHIT Games. Due to the uniqueness of deCervoÕs data and personnel, deCervo will perform a research project not able to be done anywhere in academia. Also, since deCervo is not an academic institution, there is a cost savings due to its comparatively minimal overhead, allowing more ARO funds to go directly to the work. As a performer, deCervo will be a great asset to AROÕs research and make fundamental contributions to understanding the neurobiology of expertise. Specific aims of this project are laid out in a 12-month base period for the first year, with a 12-month option period to follow in the second year.
