ECS Data Sciences Hack Week--Seattle 2018
Abstract
Data science methods, tools, and shared datasets have the potential to accelerate progress in all fields of science and engineering, but a critical element for success is creating a vibrant collaborative community. The ECS Data Science Hack Week program will establish a model for community building through a week-long education and hacking environment geared toward elevating the data science skill level of electrochemical and solid state scientists. The target audience has elementary or intermediate knowledge of python programming and use of notebooks, version control with Git, use of the Open Science Framework, and a host of python computing, data management, and visualization packages. Participants in Hack Week will also go through project ideation, and then develop and launch electrochemical or solid state hacking projects that can be built on remotely and at subsequent ECS meetings. All projects will be part of the Open Science Framework, and will have digital object identifiers that result in long-lived and searchable electrochemical and solid state data science research products.
