Chemical Imaging System for Evaluating Novel Particle Banding in Microchannels

Abstract

The purpose of this DURIP grant is to establish instrumentation and develop novel methods at Ohio State for chemical imaging i.e., generating ÔmapsÕ of particles within the microchannel and to evaluate particle distributions with distinct chemical properties when extracted from the microchannels. One key metric for the particle chemical properties is determined by the particle ?p to complement reports of physical characteristics from direct visualization. The requested equipment targets development of a point-wise chemical imaging system for the dynamic self-assembly of heterogeneous particles at near-10 µm lateral resolution for quantification of the spatial distribution of particles.
