AAAI Symposium on Causal Models, Counterfactual Inference, and Imagination-based AI
Abstract
Causality is a big missing piece in the next phase of development in AI. It is central to scientific reasoning, common sense, language understanding, physical manipulation, and creativity. Understanding causality is also crucial to turning the results of data mining into explainable phenomena and actionable policies. Thanks to many recent developments, causality has become a thriving area with many theoretical insights and practical algorithms. The AAAI Spring Symposium on causal modeling is intended to bring together people from many fields inside and outside AI who are interested in studying causality. The current project supports graduate students and a small number of invited speakers to attend the AAAI Spring Symposium which is focused on causality as the central theme. It is expected that the symposium will inspire the next generation of AI scientists to work on this important problem and make lasting contributions.
