40th International Conference on Quantum Probability and Infinite Dimensional Analysis

Abstract

The purpose of this proposal is to apply for funds to organize the Ò40th International Conference on Quantum Probability and Infinite Dimensional AnalysisÓ to be held at The Ohio State University Campus in Columbus, on the period: arrival date Sunday, August 11, and departure date Friday, August 16, 2019. This conference belongs to the series of International Annual Conferences, called Quantum Probability (QP) Meetings, of the Association of Quantum Probability and Infinite Dimensional Analysis (AQPIDA), whose active member the Principal Investigator of this proposal, Aurel I. Stan, is. Organizing this conference at The Ohio State University in Columbus will represent a historical moment, since it will be the first ever QP Meeting that will take place in the United States. In the United States, most of the people working in Probability are focusing their research on Classic Probability. We hope that, by organizing this meeting in the United States, we will be able to attract more mathematicians and graduate students from American universities to work in the area of Quantum Probability. We also hope that this will open new collaborations among American mathematicians and well established mathematicians from other countries like: Italy, Japan, and Poland, working in this area. This will also have a practical implication, since it is known that considerable progress has been done in building Quantum Computers in other countries. If the mathematicians from the United States will continue to disregard this area of research, it is possible to face in the near future a remaining backward similar to the technological remaining backward from the time that the Soviet Union launched the Sputnik 1 artificial Earth satellite. As it has been the tradition in the last QP Meetings to recognize a great mathematician, we have decided to dedicate this QP 40 Meeting in honor of Professor Leonard Gross, from Cornell University, whose celebrated ``Gross-log-Sobolev inequality" and work in Quantum Field Theory and Infinite Dimensional Analysis has inspired hundreds of papers written by mathematicians world-wide.
