2020 CEC Annual Workshop on Electrochemistry
Abstract
The Center for Electrochemistry (CEC) Annual Workshop on Electrochemistry is a unique symposium that has been held annually at The University of Texas at Austin. A two-day symposium is planned for February 22 Ð 23, 2020, featuring technical presentations from eleven invited speakers who are experts in fields of engineering, materials, and electrochemistry. They will focus on specific electrochemical research topics in four sessions: ¥ Electrochemistry in Clinical and Medicinal Studies, ¥ Photoelectrochemistry, ¥ Electrical Energy Storage, and ¥ New Advances in Electrochemistry The objective of this unique workshop is to convene scientists and researchers from top universities in the U.S. and abroad, national laboratories, and electrochemical industries, and to engage in discussion of cutting-edge electrochemical science, in particular addressing issues with respect to the mechanisms of electron transfer. The participants will address current challenges in the field, exchange ideas and information, and catch up with colleagues from around the world. In addition to the invited technical presentations, the workshop features an evening poster session and reception, which is an excellent forum for more casual discussion of recent research, forging new collaborations, networking, and engaging young scientists in conversation with renowned experts. A further objective of the workshop to involve graduate students and encourage their active participation in this opportunity to learn and to interact with the invited speakers, other workshop attendees, and their peers from other research groups and universities. This will be the 12th consecutive year that the workshop has been held. Using past support from the Robert A. Welch Foundation as seed funding, a reputation has been established for this workshop as a productive, well run, pleasant, and valuable learning opportunity, with excellent international representation. The CEC Workshop speakers are included to be some of the most well-known and highly cited researchers in electrochemistry, and this track record of high-quality speakers promotes awareness of and enthusiasm for the event in the field. UT CEC faculty members are involved with the Workshop, and the majority of UT postdoctoral fellows and graduate students present posters.
