Microbiome DoD Workshop
Abstract
The Computational Biology Institute in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University, Washington, DC proposed to host a topical meeting on ÔAdvances in Multi-Omics Microbiome Methodology: Innovations in AcademiaÓ. We propose to invite a diversity of outstanding researchers in microbiome research, multi-omics analyses, and omics integration for a two-day workshop at the Milken Institute School of Public Health, 900 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington DC. The convenience of the Foggy Bottom location is ideal for easy access from Department of Defense personnel. The meeting will draw on exceptional strengths in microbiome and multi-omics research ongoing across regional institutions, including the host institution (George Washington University), Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland, as well as national experts. The focus of the meeting is to inform Department of Defense personnel of the state-of-the-art research findings and methods used in microbiome bioinformatics and to facilitate the establishment of research partnerships between DoD and academic researchers to advance our understanding of the microbiome and applications of interest to the diversity of DoD researchers currently engaged in microbiome research.
