Electrical Conductivity of Graphite

Abstract

It is theorized that graphene-like stacking faults in doped graphite will create a very large, possibly su-perconductivity and thus proposed to investigate al-kaline metal intercalated cold worked graphite. There-fore, the planned research will consist of, (1) the prep-aration of deformed graphite by filing, (2) mixing the deformed graphite powder with Li powder and press-ing the mixture into a tablet suitable for characterization, all in a glovebox, (3) heat treating the doped graphite pellet at temperatures T, 50À=T=250À to equilibrate the Li dopant, and, (4) characterization of the heat treated doped graphite tablet using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman scattering, vibrating sample magnetometer and a Wheatstone bridge.
