Mass Spectrometry Instrumentation Capacity Building for Research and Education

Abstract

A Waters Select Series mass spectrometer is requested to help advance Department of Defense (DoD) related research at Langston University (LU). The requested instrumentation will bring novel cyclic ion mobility separation capabilities to LU. Ion mobility mass spectrometry provides greater insight into chemical sample analysis. LU will be able to make significant contributions to the DoD human performance and biosystems program with the requested instrumentation. Student trainees will get advanced hands on training with the integration of the instrument into related college courses on campus. The Select Series mass spectrometer will provide a significant increase to the research and education capabilities of LU.
