JEMS2022 - The Joint European Magnetic Symposia Conference to be held in Warsaw, Poland from 24th to 29th July, 2022
Abstract
The Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS) has become the premiere and most comprehensive conference on magnetism in Europe. The 2022 Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS2022) is jointly organized by the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw in association with the European Magnetism Association (EMA). Judging by previous editions, but having also in mind the current war in the Ukraine and ongoing epidemic, we estimate around 500 participants from all over the world this year Ð as for today (March 7th , 2022) we received around 400 abstracts (abstract submission closes on March 18th, 2022), and 75% of applicants declare in-person attendance. The series of JEMS conferences has a long tradition and since the first meeting in 2001 in Grenoble, France, JEMS2022 in Warsaw is going to be the 12th edition. The Conference traditionally brings together outstanding world experts working in foreign and Polish research centers. The multinational character of the Conference stimulates the exchange of experience and networking at international level. JEMS focuses on a broad range of topics embracing applicative and fundamental aspects of magnetism, as well as novel magnetic materials. Among others relevant topics are design and utilization of magnetic phenomena in advanced matter, potential harboring of magnetic objects for quantum information processing and leveraging artificial intelligence in magnetism research. We are planning 18 thematic symposia (see https://jems2022.pl/symposia). The ÒJEMS2022Ó Program Committee chaired by Prof. Maciej Sawicki from the Institute of Physics PAS (Warsaw, Poland) consists of 5 experts from leading scientific centers in Poland and 4 experts from Europe, North America and Japan. The Conference will be held in hybrid form. Planned presentations consist of 5 plenary, 10 semi-plenary, and about 400 contributed talks, including invited lectures, complemented by poster sessions. The program and abstracts will be published on the official Conference website (https://jems2022.pl/) as well as all participants coming to Warsaw in person will receive printed version. The provisional program is available here https://jems2022.pl/conference-layout . We are not planning any proceedings. Due to the dire consequences of the military aggression of the Russian Federation supported by the Republic of Belarus against Ukraine, the organizers of JEMS2022 decided that scientists affiliated with Russian or Belarusian scientific institutions cannot participate in the conference and present their works. In the same time the organizers of JEMS2022 decided to allow the participants from Ukraine to participate in the conference online free of charge. In case of successful current support application to US Army we hope to cover conference fees for a certain number of colleagues from Ukraine who will be willing and able to travel to Warsaw. We have also decided to allow Ukrainian scientists to submit abstract after deadline.
