Flow Cytometry Instrumentation for Research and Education

Abstract

The study of individual cells in a population is essential for cell biology research. Flow cytometry allows for the interrogation of individual cells from a large population of cells. This experimental technique allows for multi-parametric analysis of individual cells. Light is passed through cells one by one and detected signals are used to gain information on the size, shape and molecular characteristics of individual cells. The requested instrumentation will be used to advance the research and education program at Langston University, the only Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Oklahoma.
