Pilot Demonstration of Hydrothermal Conversion of Wet Organic Wastes for Improved Waste Management and Renewable Energy Production

Abstract

The primary objective of this project is to demonstrate an emerging technology that can mitigate a wide-spread, municipal disposal problem. The research project is proposed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) at the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) in Champaign, Illinois. The Recipient s specific stated objectives are to temporarily install an energy conversion system that destroys municipal biosolids and produces energy; and to monitor the environmental and energy performance of this system.
