Global Positioning System Interface Unit (GPS-IU)

Abstract

The Global Positioning System Interface Unit (GPS-IU) integrates GPS Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) data into navigation, communications, and weapons systems on board the B-52. Program is intended to increase the memory and throughput capacity of the GPS-IU. In December 2022, the GPS-IU program stopped pursuing Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) efforts due to technical difficulties and schedule delays.
