Ground Systems & Fire Control
Abstract
The GMD Ground Systems enable control and operation of the GMD Element as part of the MDS. Ground Systems consists of the GMD Fire Control system, GCN, IDT and Launch Site Components (LSC) (silos, silo interface vaults [SIVs]). These components collect and process sensor data, perform mission planning and fire control, command the launch of ground based interceptors, communicate with interceptors in flight, and provide environmental support for ground based interceptors during peacetime.
