Commercial Radar Operational Support to SOUTHCOM (CROSS)

Abstract

The CROSS JCTD will demonstrate the ability to task, on-demand, three commercial radar constellations and receive unclassified imagery to support operations and contingency planning activities. This capability will provide SOUTHCOM the ability to fulfill un-met lower resolution imagery tasks (e.g. Haiti disaster relief, gulf oil spill, specific classified military applications) within their Area of Focus. Upon successful demonstration at SOUTHCOM, replicate a similar model at remaining COCOMs and instantiate NGA contracts to provide direct and routine tasking and support for long-term COCOM radar imagery buys. The COCOM sponsor is SOUTHCOM, the lead Service is the US Air Force (Space Innovation and Development Center). NGA is a key partner in this JCTD.
