4) Pretreatments - Medical

Abstract

Develop nerve agent enzyme pretreatments that provide protection against non-traditional agents. Enzymes should have the ability to rapidly bind and detoxify nerve agents, and have broad binding specificity and high catalytic efficiency for the destruction of agents. For enzyme approaches, one molecule of catalytic bioscavenger should be capable of detoxifying numerous molecules of nerve agents resulting in the capability for a small quantity of catalytic bioscavenger to protect against a large dose of nerve agent.
