Nano-Electro-Mechanical Computers (NEMS)
Abstract
The goal of the Nano-Electro-Mechanical Computers (NEMS) program was to develop nanoscale mechanical switches and gain elements integrated intimately with complementary metal-oxide semiconductor switches. The program also developed mechanical gain elements to enable very low-noise, high-frequency amplifiers for low-power, low-noise analog signal processing. This technology will facilitate production of electronics that are less susceptible to electromagnetic pulse attacks and is transitioning into DoD systems via industrial program performers.
