Bacterial Threats
Abstract
This effort conducts studies to refine antibacterial countermeasures, including vaccine candidates, to prevent diarrhea (a common disease in deployed troops caused by E. coli, Campylobacter, and Shigella), meningitis (a threat to trainees, deployed troops, and military families), wound infection, and scrub typhus (a debilitating mite-borne disease that is developing resistance to currently available antibiotics).
