Bacterial Threats

Abstract

This effort conducts studies to refine antibacterial countermeasures, including vaccine candidates, to prevent diarrhea (a common disease in deployed troops caused by three diarrheal pathogens (infectious agents), E. coli, Campylobacter, and Shigella, wound infection, and scrub typhus (a debilitating mite-borne disease that is developing resistance to currently available antibiotics).
