Institutes #7 and #8 - Technology Areas in Development
Abstract
Two new Manufacturing Innovation Institutes are in acquisition planning, one to be established in late 2016, and one to be established in 2017. Some of the candidate technology focus areas currently under consideration for these two institutes are: Biotech - Regenerative Medicine; Biotech - Continuous Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals; Securing the Manufacturing Digital Thread – Cybersecurity in manufacturing; Advanced Machine Tools and Control System; and Soft Robotics – Humans working in close proximity to robots. Cooperative Agreement funds are programmed in this budget from FY 2017 through FY 2021.
