Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IIA Development

Abstract

The SM-3 Block IIA is required to meet EPAA Phase III. It will increase the area that can be defended by Aegis BMD, increase the probability of kill against a larger threat set, and leverage enhanced capability provided by Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) sensor upgrades Recurring Accomplishments: - Conduct SM-3 Block IIA software update to support engagements against additional complex threats identified during Aegis BMD 5.1 design process conducted after missile Critical Design Review (CDR) - Conduct End to End Distributed Development System integration testing; and flight test support - Continue implementation of SM-3 Block IIA cost reduction initiatives to support meeting cost goals to reduce the current estimated Average Unit Production Price - Continue transition of KW hardware commonality effort (from design to material purchases) to system integration testing in order to demonstrate Technology Readiness Level 7 - Continue Engineering Manufacture Readiness Level 3 compliance to support life cycle progression Specific and unique accomplishments to each FY are as follows:
