Family of Infantry Weapons Systems (FIWS)
Abstract
Family of Infantry Weapons Systems (FIWS) is not a new start, but a new program title beginning in FY14 to include efforts previously funded by Infantry Weapons Modifications and Principle End Item Reprocurement programs. FIWS is a level of effort line that provides for continuous monitoring, research and development, assessment of and implementation of Joint Service and USMC unique system modifications. These efforts include: sustain weapon capability and/or improve the performance; maintainability; supportability; service life; ergonomics; and safety enhancements.
