Wingman
Abstract
Previously funded JCTD. Wingman supports the National Defense Strategy's focus on advanced autonomous systems and forward force maneuver. Wingman will project lethality by utilizing unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) that can maneuver effectively with a mounted formation and engage ahead of and along with manned platforms. The integration of weaponized UGVs into combat elements will provide initial operational stand-off for manned vehicles, enhanced situational awareness, and mitigate the risk of casualties at first contact. In FY 2018, Wingman conducted an operational demonstration of the first unmanned system certified on the U.S. Army table VI scout gunnery course.
