Advanced Electronic Warfare

Abstract

The Advanced Electronic Warfare program developed a system that enabled highly precise communications jamming. This program developed and demonstrated robust, low cost, small size, weight, and power (SWaP) distributed electronic warfare (EW) platforms that allow the warfighter to disrupt and impede an adversary's communication network. The program used an array of nodes that have synchronized clocks to enable the signal from each node to be aligned so that the carrier and phase jamming are focused on the specific target area and do not affect the non-target area. Each node contains localization, network, synchronization, and jamming processing and communication in a low-cost, easily deployable package. Technologies developed under this program have been made available to the Services for transition.
