12) Techbase Med Defense - Bio CM
Abstract
Multiagent (Broad Spectrum) Medical Countermeasures (MCM): Continues efforts previously funded under the Transformational Medical Technologies Initiative. It supports existing and new efforts in the discovery phase of drug development. Applied research efforts also include the investigation of existing drugs to explore their efficacy against BW agents. This involves the initiation of experiments to identify markers, correlates of protection, assays, and endpoints for further non-clinical and clinical studies and development of a scalable and reproducible manufacturing process amenable to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). In FY14, research under this thrust area will be transitioned into the Bacterial and Viral Therapeutics program under BA2 Techbase Med Defense - Bio CM (TM2).
