Biological Interfaces
Abstract
This thrust area explores and develops biological interfaces between biotic and abiotic materials. Examples include infection prevention/sterilization at the interface between skin and a battlefield medical device (such as a central intravenous catheter) as well as enhancing the rehabilitation/recovery effectiveness of interfaces between bone and orthopedic stabilization devices.
