Ground Systems
Abstract
The Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Ground Systems enable control and operation of the GMD Element as part of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Ground Systems consists of the GMD Fire Control, External Systems Interface (ESI), GMD Communications Network, In-Flight Interceptor Communications System (IFICS) Data Terminal (IDT), Launch Site Components (LSC) (silos, silo interface vaults (SIVs)), and Launch Support Systems (LSS) (Command Launch Equipment (CLE) and Launch Support Equipment (LSE).
