10) Nerve Agent Pretreatments

Abstract

Develop pretreatments that provide protection against all organophosphorous nerve agents. The enzymes should have the ability to rapidly bind and detoxify nerve agents, and have broad binding specificity and high enzymatic efficiency for the destruction of agents. For enzyme approaches, one molecule of catalytic bioscavenger should be capable of detoxifying numerous molecules nerve agents resulting in the capability for a small quantity of catalytic bioscavenger to protect against a large dose of nerve agent.
