INVESTIGATIVE AND FORENSICS SCIENCE

Abstract

The IFS subgroup’s objective is to advance combating terrorism capabilities in investigative and forensic science. IFS supports joint, interagency, and other partners who apply investigative and forensic science methods, means, or practices to forensic intelligence or practices to forensic intelligence or investigations. To meet this objective, the subgroup focuses on rapid research, development, test and evaluation of new and advanced technology, equipment, forensic techniques, and tools, as well as development of information resources and decision support tools for risk-based decision making and rapid exploitation of evidence. Projects emphasize rapid and field DNA analysis, identification of insider threat within agencies, pre- and post-blast forensic examination, electronic evidence data acquisition and analysis, sensitive site exploitation, forensic intelligence, and criminalistics.
