Bacterial Disease Threats

Abstract

This effort is to better understand the biology of bacterial organisms and their effects on humans, how to prevent wound infections, prevent/treat diarrhea (a significant threat during initial deployments), and scrub typhus (a debilitating mite-borne disease that has in recent history been the leading rickettsial disease to impact US military operations and is developing resistance to currently available antibiotics).
