Mission-oriented Resilient Clouds (MRC)

Abstract

The Mission-oriented Resilient Clouds (MRC) program is creating technologies to enable cloud computing systems to survive and operate through cyber attacks. Vulnerabilities found in current standalone and networked systems can be amplified in cloud computing environments. MRC is addressing this risk by creating advanced network protocols and new approaches to computing in potentially compromised distributed environments. Particular attention is focused on adapting defenses and allocating resources dynamically in response to attacks and compromises. MRC will result in new approaches to measure trust, reach consensus in compromised environments, and allocate resources in response to current threats and computational requirements. MRC will develop new verification and control techniques for networks embedded in clouds that must function reliably in complex adversarial environments.
