Photonic Materials and Device Research

Abstract

Conduct research into novel material and device structures operable throughout the electromagnetic spectrum from long wave infra-red (LWIR) to ultraviolet (UV) including sources, detectors, and integrated photonic devices to increase situational awareness in open and complex terrains; allow assured communication, improve target detection, identification, and discrimination; and create new device functionalities while reducing size, weight, and power requirements.
