Vision Protection:

Abstract

This effort matures and integrates devices to protect occupant's eyes, vehicle cameras and electro-optic fire control systems against anti-sensor laser devices as well as reduce the sensor's optical signature. Anti-sensor laser devices can deny vision either temporarily or permanently, by flooding the sensor with too much light (jamming) or by damaging the sensor. These jamming or damaging effects can slow our battle tempo, disrupt fire control solutions, or prevent vehicles from completing their mission entirely. This effort focuses on optical systems that protect sensors to maintaining fire control capability, situational awareness and protect Warfighter vision from pulsed, continuous wave and future laser threats. Coordinated work is also being performed in Program Elements (PE) 0602120A, 0602705A, 0602712A, and 0602786A.
