Iron Crosshairs
Abstract
This project will enhance the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Iron Curtain (IC) Active Protection System (APS) electronics in preparation for emplacement on a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) system for fielding. The IC APS was proven in a recent government live fire test and evaluation to be an effective system for addressing current and anticipated future Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) threats. The system is much more effective than currently employed approaches, and is expected to result in lower casualty rates and increased mission effectiveness for certain types of engagements. This technology addresses one of the highest ranked Joint Urgent Operational Needs Statement (JUONS).
