High-Productivity Computing Systems (HPCS)

Abstract

The HPCS program will create a new generation of economically viable, high-productivity computing systems for the national security and industrial user communities. HPCS technologies will enable nuclear stockpile stewardship, weapons design, cryptanalysis, weather prediction, and other large-scale problems that cannot be addressed productively with today's computers. The goal of this multi-agency program is to develop revolutionary, flexible and well-balanced computer architectures that will deliver high performance with significantly improved productivity for a broad spectrum of applications. Additionally, programming such large systems will be made easier so engineers and scientists can better harness the power of high-performance computers.
