Future X-Band Radar (Navy)

Abstract

Tests an off-the-shelf open-architecture Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) X-band aircraft radar for potential application to the Navy's Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) program for ships. Currently, AMDR lacks a modern AESA X-band component to provide horizon surveillance against current and future threats. Program Manager completed test planning and contracting for acquisition in FY 2019. If successful, this project will inform requirements for the X-band component of the Navy's Air and Missile Defense Radar program. Acceptance evaluation of test article occurred in 3Q FY 2020. A close out report will be completed and a procurement decision will occur in 3Q FY 2021 using FY 2020 funds.
