ELECTROMAGNETIC GUNS
Abstract
This activity is the Electro Magnetic (EM) railgun program that is focused on developing the technology to launch a long range projectile from Navy ships. EM railgun is being considered for multi-mission applications including USMC Naval Surface Fire Support, anti-surface warfare (ASUW) and ship self defense from ballistic and cruise missiles and small boat threats. FY 2011 to FY 2012 increase is due to an increased in investment to support Phase II of the EM gun demonstration program. FY 2012 to FY 2013 increase is a planned realignment from the 0603114N PE as the EM gun program Phase II efforts initiate.
