Future Capabilities Transition

Abstract

The Future Capability Transition (FCT) portfolio will implement a capabilities-based acquisition approach to enhance effectiveness in executing kill webs inclusive of the entire Marine Aviation portfolio. FCT accelerates the transition of science and technology (S&T) efforts into meaningful Warfighter capability, which includes OSD R&E Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD) projects such as Long Range Attack Missile (LRAM). OSD R&E Rapid Defense Experiment Reserve (RDER) projects such as Penetrating Affordable Autonomous Collaborative Killer Portfolio (PAACK-P) enables early technology maturation for the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Unmanned Aerial System Expeditionary (MUX) portfolio. FCT supports execution of Force Design 2030 by ensuring both legacy and future platforms are influencing S&T early enough to inform design decisions that will reduce life-cycle costs and expensive re-engineering. By looking across the Marine Aviation portfolio to assess how materiel solutions developing within S&T can eliminate Operational gaps, reductions in cost and redundancy are realized.
